Spirituality & Well-being Partnership

The Spirituality & Well-being Partnership (previously known as 'hope faith and love') would like to invite members from different faith groups to join them. The group is made up of representatives from different faith groups and staff from Solent NHS Mental Health Services.

The aim is 'to enable Faith and community groups to work in partnership with health services to support mental health & spiritual well-being for the people of Portsmouth'.

The group organises events, as well as mental health training for community groups and is looking at setting up support groups. The steering group usually meets once a month at St. James' hospital.

Religion or Belief in the workplace: a guide for employers

Equality & Human Rights Commission has published a guide which employers will find useful in dealing with the expression of religion or belief at work whilst preventing any conflict and legal challenges by employees. The guide will also be helpful to employees in terms of what their rights are to express their religion or belief at work and what assistance they can reasonably expect of their employers in this regard. The guidance follows recent judgment of the European Court of Human Rights which confirm that persons who want to undertake a certain practice sufficiently connected with their religion or belief will be protected under European Convention of Human Rights regardless of whether it is a mandatory requirement of their religion. New careers education resource for primary school children

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has launched a new educational resource, Equal Choices, Equal Chances, to help teachers challenge any stereotypical ideas which pupils may already have started to form around the world of work. The resource will help pupils explore different career opportunities and understand that race, faith, gender or disability need not necessarily stand in the way of pursuing their career choices.
